Judy Hu

Global Executive Director, Advertising & Branding, GE

Judy Hu is Global Executive Director, Advertising and Brand for GE. She is responsible for GE's brand message around the world. She oversees television, print, outdoor, and digital advertising, GE's internal and external websites, GE's global Olympic marketing program, and branding initiatives.

In 2003, Hu launched a global campaign, "Imagination at Work," designed to introduce a new vision for the company, communicate the vast range of GE's products and services, and contemporize and humanize the corporation's image. The campaign has surpassed its objectives in the marketplace and has won many awards, including Gold and Silver Effies, "Best Integrated Campaign for 2003" from B2B, a Silver Cyber Lion at Cannes, and National Gold Addys. In 2005, "Imagination at Work" was a winner in NY Ad Week's "America's Favorite Ad Slogan" contest.

In 2004, Hu introduced a simplified global brand architecture for GE and its businesses, and new design guidelines for the company,

In 2005, Hu launched GE's "ecomagination" campaign, which won the CEBA Grand Prize. Additionally, the eco television ad, "Singin' in the Rain," was the highest scoring ad in the USA TODAY Ad Tracking Survey.

Before joining GE, Hu spent five years with General Motors. She joined GM from DMB&B, Bloomfield Hills, where she was Senior Vice President. Prior to that, Hu worked in Hong Kong for Leo Burnett, managing accounts ranging from airlines to banks to telephone companies, and at DMB&B, New York on Procter and Gamble brands. She began her career in the publishing industry in Boston, editing and designing trade books and textbooks.

Hu graduated cum laude from Harvard and received an M.B.A from Yale. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Ad Council, the American Advertising Federation, and the Association of National Advertisers. In 2006, she received an Asian Women in Business Award; in 2005, she was named one of B2B's Marketers of the Year; in 2003, she received an AAF District 2 Diversity Achievement Award; in 2002, was named to the Automotive News list of "All Stars;" and in 1996, was named a "Woman to Watch" by Advertising Age.

President, McNeil Consumer Healthcare

Ashley A. McEvoy is president of McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a $2 billion Johnson & Johnson affiliate based in Fort Washington, Pa. She has worldwide responsibility for the strategic direction of the company's upper respiratory, pain and gastro-intestinal franchises, and she heads the over-the-counter (OTC) business in the U.S.

Ms. McEvoy joined McNeil in 1996 as an assistant brand manager for Tylenol and Nicotrol. Within two years, she was managing Tylenol's marketing and public relations, which led to a marketing directorship a year later. By 2003, as vice president of marketing, she drove the OTC business for McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, overseeing the brands of Tylenol, Motrin and St. Joseph's Aspirin. She was appointed general manager of McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a division of McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, in 2005. In this role, she maintained responsibility for the OTC business unit that comprises sales, project management, business strategy and insights, and strategic marketing. She moved into her current position in late 2006.

Ms. McEvoy received her B.A. in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, she was an account director for J. Walter Thompson in London and in New York, managing the advertising for Unilever's Personal Products Division and Bristol-Myers Squibb's Clairol brand, respectively. In addition, she was account executive on the soap and food sectors of the Procter & Gamble account for Grey Advertising in New York.

Throughout her career, Ms. McEvoy has steadily built a reputation for being a principal driver of continued innovation, strategic growth and financial accountability. In 2005, she earned public recognition for her achievements, when Advertising Age rated her among the top 50 marketers. A frequent guest speaker on the American Marketing Association's circuit, she is a member of the Target Corporation Health & Beauty Aid Steering Committee and the New York American Marketing Association EFFIE Awards Judging Committee. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, as well as its board of directors. Ms. McEvoy serves on the Executive Committee and Board Member to the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
