For current students, many club activities focus on recruiting and education. We pack our calendar with speakers, conferences, coffee chats, and treks.
This past year, the WMC organized student visits to 15 companies like Colgate-Palmolive, General Mills, Kraft, Frito-Lay, and Dell. Utilizing Wharton alumni and contacts at each company, the small delegations of students spend a day on-site, shadowing marketing employees and learning about each company's culture.
Wharton's annual Marketing Conference attracts speakers from marketing powerhouses, including Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, and Gap.
Wharton students also travel to specific geographic areas in order to visit several companies at once. Past treks have included themed agendas like a NYC visit to fashion & luxury companies, and a West Coast visit to tech companies.
Last year, the Wharton Marketing Club was proud to sponsor case reviews and Marketing 101-style seminars for 1st-year students. The club supports many career switchers interested in marketing, and partners with the faculty and other external speakers to provide the information the students need.
Wharton students participate singly and in teams in many case competitions. Opportunities include internal competitions, other business schools' cases, and the prestigious L'Oreal e-Strat challenge.
Battle of the Bands is a musical competition produced by the Marketing Club. The event features both students and professors of the school rocking out. Prizes are awarded for the band with the most votes. For more information, see the Battle of the Bands Official Website.
